Webroot Heads For The Clouds

Webroot has recently been successful with its tool for PC’s, smartphones and tablets. Secure Anywhere Complete 2012- 3 is a faster and less-intrusive software that doesn’t take-up large amounts of space and allows your devices to run smooth and quickly.

We have had the opportunity to take advantage of Webroot products in the Fedsolutions IT department to successfully support our customer-base of over 1,000 users. To a great extent, we have used Webroot Mobile security beta, but we will discuss that later on. Overall, it has been a very fruitful relationship, which has allowed Fedsolutions to maintain our clients’ security needs.

Webroot is now taking to a “higher ground” and moving into the Cloud-sphere. Just what does this mean? Well, they are stepping away from the product-based solutions and have started to migrate customers to its cloud-based solution, as previously mentioned, Secure Anywhere Complete. They made this move to improve services and keep customers continuously updated, rather than sticking to the old model of supporting a range of security issues with different products. The cloud implementation is used, “as a storage or distribution mechanism, as opposed to the real intelligence. Our solution today is a data driven, database driven solution, and ultimately it’s that data that becomes the most valuable commodity,” said Dick Williams, Webroot’s CEO.

The matter is that CIO and CEO’s out there are worried about the costs of supporting security issues. Yes, costs tend to skyrocket due to administrative costs, in addition to supporting and constantly updating software. In the end, costs add up and executives tend to look at this as more of burden rather than a solution. There is no doubt that malware is a big factor whether your company is big, or small, and present-day tendencies prove that over and over.

Even though companies don’t think of security as a major hurdle or obstacle, modern-day statistics and trends show that a secure infrastructure goes hand-in-hand with any successful business. Old habits are hard to change, but at least Webroot is making it easier for executives to move in the right direction and establish a secure IT infrastructure.
